Types of Dentures
Dentures are custom-made replacements for missing teeth and can be taken out and put back into the mouth. There are mainly two types of dentures: full and partial. Full, or complete, dentures are used when all the teeth are missing, while partial dentures are opted for when some natural teeth remain.
Full dentures can be either “conventional” or “immediate,” prepared after the removal of teeth and the healing of gum tissue, or immediately after teeth removal, respectively.
Partial dentures, on the other hand, consist of replacement teeth attached to a gum-colored plastic base connected by a metal framework that holds the denture in place in the mouth.

Initial models might be created in the exact shape and position of the future denture for the patient to try. This step ensures the color, shape, and fit meet the patient’s needs before the final denture is cast. Once the final denture is ready, adjustments may be made to ensure a comfortable and secure fit. Regular follow-ups and adjustments may be needed as the patient adjusts to the dentures, ensuring optimal comfort and functionality over time.
